1984 BMW 633CSI

This is a beautiful example of an e24 in its original form. This car is equipped with a 5-speed manual transmission, factory air conditioning (converted to r134a), sunroof, power seats, central locking system, on board computer, and cruise control. Everything works as it should, and the car is an absolute pleasure to drive.

This 6er lived most of its life in NorCal and I have detailed service records from the first two long-term owners. It has been extremely well cared for all of its life, and I would guess it has never seen a winter day (it lived in Michigan for a short period before I bought it, but there are no sign that it was ever exposed to the elements)

In the photos, the car is fitted with 16” e38 “style-5” wheels with Continental Extreme Contact DW tires. These wheels, and the original 14” “bottle cap” wheels are included in the sale.

Interior:

First, the dash is absolutely crack free and beautiful, a rarity in e24’s. The car comes with a custom stitched dash cover to use when parked. It covers the dash, steering wheel, and shift knob. It has kept all of these leather items in excellent condition. The Pearl Beige seats have no rips or tears. The driver’s seat has a bit of dye wear from factory fitting wool seat covers were installed (seat covers included). The leather has no split seems and is barely cracked anywhere. It even still has a fabulous sheen. The 8-way power seats and adjustable headrests all work (repaired cables Fall ’13). The “pods” behind the rear seats have been re-glued and look presentable (these warp and fade badly). The carpet is in great shape with no tears, burn marks, or excessive wear. The original floor mats have some wear, but are still clean, presentable, and functional. HVAC all works as it should, as do the power windows.

Exterior:

The bronzit beige paint is in excellent condition. There are very few imperfections, which can only be seen under close inspection. The aluminum trim is bright and clear. The black rubber trim is not faded or burnt and is still supple. All of the exterior lighting works as it should. Being a Northern California car most of its life, the car is absolutely rust-free. I work on old BMW’s for a living, and I can tell you this is one of the cleanest cars of the era I have seen.

Suspension/Brakes:
The car rides and drives extremely well. There are no knocks or rattles. When inspected on a lift, there is no play in any of the ball joints, bushings, or steering linkage. The car stops smoothly with no vibrations or questions. I haven’t inspected the pad thickness lately, but I would have replaced them if they had less than 50% when I bought the car, and have only driven it 3-4k miles. This car does utilize the hydraulic brake booster (aka brake bomb). When these fail they are fairly expensive to replace ($1,000+ with labor). I do have records that it has been replaced at some point, and currently displays no leaks or issues.

Drivetrain:

The engine starts right up with no hesitation, excessive smoke, or odd noises. The car idles well, and drives out just like one would expect. The 5-speed transmission shifts smoothly through the gears, while the clutch grips and releases properly. The exhaust system is in excellent condition as are all of the hangers and brackets. This past spring, I changed the engine oil with Total Classic 20w50 and a Mann filter. I also serviced the transmission and differential with Redline synthetic oil (MTL in transmission and 75w90 in differential).

Priced at $12,500

I’d encourage you to come see the car in person. You can take it for a drive, check out the extensive service history, and we can put it up on a lift if you’d like. Of course, serious buyers are also welcome to take the car for a 3rd party inspection.  Give us a call to schedule an appointment – (317) 773-0074 or email [email protected]
