The Letter

Dear Old Shop,
About five years ago, in the midst of winter, we found you.  We knew we found the right location… An e30 grill hung across the room on the wall, as if to welcome us, saying we found our home.   We covered your walls with tools, shelves of glass, seats, photos, equipment, and, as Reggie likes to call them, “interesting pieces of metal.”   We had huge dreams that began to fill the space as we parted out numerous bimmers.   The time came to have a lift installed, and things kept progressing.  We shipped parts all over the world, to almost every continent.  We met so many wonderful enthusiasts, customers, and friends who all share the love of this one car that started this whole thing.  We became known not only for parts but for service, repair, and restoration.  Putting old ix’s and 2002’s and 320i’s back on the road and saving cabrios and other bimmers from the crusher not only made their owners happy, but we were happy too.   We’ll  never forget the cruise-ins where we sat and discussed ways to refurbish numbers and letters that had worn off buttons.  Or when we ordered pizza and talked about wheels and tires and how much of a difference a set of euro basket weaves would make on a certain car.   And when we fired up the ’86 325 swap car, you were there to see and hear it all.  And the open houses during the summer where we gathered to let the bimmers shine, to share amazing food, and see who won Best of Show and Work in Progress.   The swap meet!   We had so much fun at the swap meet!  And now five or so years later, it is time for us to say goodbye.  We’re not moving too far away.  And we still have the same dreams… they’ve just grown and need more space to keep on growing and to better serve our faithful customers.  We thank you for your hospitality and for serving us well over the years.  So many great memories… We’ll  never forget you.
