We're having an exceptionally fantastic Friday here at the shop! The rain has stopped, the sun is shining, and we're celebrating the roaring sound that has been absent for some time from the 1992 BMW 735i
. As they say, the third engine's the charm! Or something like that. The first replacement engine we found for this 7-series was in Columbus, OH. Or so we hoped. After a 3.5 hour roadtrip one way, they said they could not find that engine. On a side-note, the good thing about that little jaunt to Columbus was that we got to try the famous Schmidt's Sausage Haus
, as seen on Travel Channel's Man vs. Food
. Very good, highly recommended! End of side-note. The second replacement engine that we found came from South Carolina. The cylinders were rusty inside. So we sent it back. The third one was found on Craigslist here in Indiana, and it looked promising from the get-go. Let's take a look at The One being installed, shall we?
Just in case you're wondering, we are not sponsored by Snap-On...if Snap-On would like to become a sponsor, please give us a call! ;)
She's a bit dusty here, but will get a nice bath and detail before she's picked up by her owner.
It has been another busy week at the shop. There have been a few bimmers that have been here that I did not have a chance to document. For example, a 2003 BMW 530i was in for an oil pan gasket, a coolant temp sensor, air filter, and cabin air filter. This 1996 BMW 318ti pulled into the shop...I love it! It was gone before I had a chance to even think about taking it for a test drive...for photographic purposes, of course.
She was in for a general inspection, as well as to diagnose an airbag light and a brake lining light. Fun fact that I learned while writing this post..."ti" stands for "touring international."
Remember this 1991 BMW 325ic that won "Best of Show" at last summer's Open House? She was back to check out a few issues: oil leak, a vibration at 60mph, binding and rattling in the steering, front brakes, and a burned out interior light. Speaking of the Open House, we're planning it for Saturday, June 18th, 2011, so please mark your calendars! We'll send out an official announcement soon, but wanted to let everyone know of the date right now.
She's also getting an oil change, manual transmission service, differential service, tire balance and rotation, valve adjustment, new valve cover gasket, coolant flush, brake fluid flush, and inspection of hoses.
The 1969 BMW 2002 is also coming along! Here's a quick look at some work on the driver's side. The driver's side front fender will be replaced.
As I mentioned last week, John is making real progress on the '02. We're so excited! More updates to follow!
If you're looking for something to do this weekend, consider going out to the Hoosier BMW CCA Rites O' Spring event at Putnam Park. We may be out there! Have a great weekend!
