Auf Wiedersehen, Rust!

Happy Friday!  What a beautiful day!  August seems to have shied away from its usual Midwestern heat and humidity and given way to rain and cooler temperatures.  A much needed break from the harsh summer weather we’ve seen the past few months!  We’re hoping for nice weather for tonight’s Cruise-In.  Last week, it almost felt like fall had arrived!  We usually kick things off at 6pm here at the shop.  So bring a chair and your favorite snacks and join us for a relaxing evening!

If you’re looking for a car show to attend next Saturday, August 25th, we highly recommend checking out Carmel’s Artomobilia!  We’ll have some bimmers there to represent the Hoosier BMW CCA, so come on out and say hi!  Get all the details here!  Click on this blog post to review last year’s event.   Another great upcoming event is the Hoosier Chapter’s New Member Picnic and Vintage Car Show!  This event will take place on Saturday, September 8th at Eagle Creek Park at Lilly Lake Shelter.  Bring your vintage (20 years or older – e30/e24 – if you’re lucky enough to own one! – e23/e28 or older and show it off!  Don’t worry, you can still bring your new car, but we’ll just ask you to park “over there.”  To participate in the car show, please email Reggie at reggie@reggiesmotorworks.com.  The event starts at 11am, with lunch served between 11-12:30.  Cost is $5 per vehicle “park entrance fee.”

 

The past few weeks, Reggie’s been working on rust repairs on the beautiful 1987 BMW 535is.  To see “Before” and “In Progress” photos, check out this post and this one too.  We’re pleased to share the results of this round of repairs for this bimmer!   Let’s take a look!

Once all the exterior work was complete, it was time to re-install the interior…but not without first giving the carpets some TLC!  They look brand new now!

 

 

 

 

 

A bimmer and an Audi have both been patiently awaiting the arrival of replacement engines.  As luck would have it, both arrived to the shop this week!   Here’s the new engine for the 1999 BMW 740il:

This sapphire black metallic 2003 BMW 325xi came in for a new water pump, thermostat assembly and housing, serpentine belt, and a few other odds and ends:

It seems that when we’ve got one red bimmer in the shop, there’s usually a second, and sometimes a third!  This week we had two red cabrios!  A new alternator was on the list for this 1992 brillantrot 325i, as well as removal of a trailer hitch.

 

 

A drive train vibration  and an inoperable speedometer brought this ’89 325i cabrio to the shop:

Late last week, the infamous gletscherblau-metallic ’91 325i got lowered…don’t you love the stance?  Niiiiice!

Some of you may know that Nick recently acquired an e30 of his own after months of searching.  Let’s take a peek at his 5-speed 1984 318i!

Reggie has also been working on our family car, the e34 ’95 525i !   When I visited the shop, he was working on rolling the rear fenders.  Let’s take a quick look!

A heat gun warms up the metal so that it can be shaped with the fender roller.  **Editor’s Note: Actually, the heat gun is used to keep the paint from cracking when using the fender roller.**

 

Once Reggie was satisfied with the amount of  space he’d created, the wheels were re-mounted.  And Lucy was there to lend a paw!  😉

A few weeks ago, Reggie had his pin-striping brushes out during a Cruise-In…I love the designs he came up with!
